FILM BY CLAY

  • FILM BY CLAY is a cinematic project telling documentary and narrative stories focused on material, handcraft and Mexico.

The films are grounded in real processes and real materials, balancing insight with entertainment.

Film by Clay aims to be the world's leading and most reliable visual resource for handcrafted clay products made in Mexico.

  • WE MAKE MOVIES to honor and elevate the Mexican artisans who've given so much to Clay Imports and to inspire a new generation to see tile making from a fresh perspective.

LADRILLERO SHORT FILMS are narrative movies re-telling real stories about Mexican brick makers.

CLAY SHORTS DOCS are intimate films about the individuals that make Clay Imports products.

  • PRODUCER

Nick Barreiro didn’t come to filmmaking through film school. He came to it through tile.

He began installing tile alongside his brother, Zac, which later led them to build Clay Imports. Nick spent years traveling throughout Mexico, visiting tile workshops and building relationships with the people who make the materials Clay Imports sells. FILM BY CLAY grew out of those relationships.

  • DIRECTOR

Jinyoung Yang is a South Korean director, video editor, and content creator based in Guadalajara, Mexico. She channels her love for storytelling and cultural exploration into her films.

Traveling globally, Jinyoung crafts insightful stories that connect cultures, blending artistry with a unique perspective.

  • EDITOR

Marcelo Briceño is a Mexican filmmaker based in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Jumbling between writing, directing, editing and producing, Briceño often fills a “Swiss army knife” role in productions.
He believes film is no different than carpentry or clay work: the job of an artisan putting things together. For some, it’s clay and paint. For filmmakers, it’s time and space.

Project Vision

FILM BY CLAY is an ongoing storytelling project produced by Clay Imports.

The films include both documentary and narrative work, all rooted in Mexico and centered on material culture, handcraft, and Mexico.

Some stories connect directly to Clay Imports products; others stand entirely on their own as narrative or character-driven films.

These films are not advertisements. They are visually driven, story-first projects designed to be engaging, entertaining, and informative.

Over time, Film by Clay will serve as a lasting visual reference for Mexican clay handcraft, production, and the stories that surround it.
